Parenting program for Latino dads, moms, and preteens recruiting criteria
Aim 1
Families: To be eligible, both parents must identify as Latino (descendants from Latin America, Mexico, or the Caribbean) and have a child between 9 and 12 years old. All three family members — mother, father, and child — must agree to participate and be able to communicate in English or Spanish. Parents must be able to provide informed consent, and the child must be able to provide informed assent. Families are not eligible if the child has a severe developmental or learning disorder that would affect comprehension, or if a parent has an intellectual disability or language impairment that would hinder participation in a dialogue-based program.
Key Stakeholders: Eligible individuals must work directly with Latino families, providing resources, support, or services in education, healthcare, or social services. Those who report an intellectual disability or language impairment are not eligible.
Aim 2
Families: Eligibility criteria are the same as Aim 1, with two additional conditions. Both parents must be the child's biological parents. Families who previously participated in Part 1 of this project ("Cultural adaptation of a family-based program to prevent adversity and improve physical and mental health in Latinx children – Part 1") are not eligible to participate.
Key Stakeholders: Criteria remain the same as Aim 1.
